Gigabit Wireless Networks

By

For businesses and organisations that are regularly transferring large files or who frequently use video, slow downloads and connection issues are not only really frustrating, but can be a burden on the business.

Whether you’re in the commercial industry and working with very large files across the network, or in the healthcare world and streaming video or television, Aruba’s ultra-fast 220 series Gigabit Wi-Fi offers the highest performance in high-density environments. The next generation Wi-Fi standard, 802.11ac supports data transfer speeds of up to 1.3Gbps for three-antenna hardware, which is up to three times faster than the previous hardware.

For organisations like the aged and community care provider, Feros Care, Gigabit Wi-Fi offers capabilities to provide high-definition video conferencing and VoIP phones to every bedside in its three residential villages. Working closely with Feros Care’s IT Department, Surecom upgraded the existing cabling backbone and installed Aruba Network’s latest Wi-Fi standard across all sites. This upgrade meant:

  • The Wi-Fi network forms the communications backbone for Feros Care’s pilot telehealth program which uses video conferencing with GPs and specialists for residents with complex needs.
  • The same infrastructure enables the residents to be socially connected via internet access, video-conferencing and phone calls with friends and family.
  • Centralised management of the network allows for easier and more efficient management of the infrastructure by Feros Care’s IT Department via remote monitoring and administration.
  • The Wi-Fi network supports SIP based Wi-Fi handsets which will enable better communications between staff and therefore better and timelier resident care.

If you are looking to get greater use out of your Wi-Fi network, the high-density Gigabit wireless technology might be your answer. Our Aruba Network specialists would be happy to provide you with more information about what this hardware can offer you.
